Located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains between Sparta, NC and Independence, VA, NEW RIVER CAMPGROUND sits on the border of North Carolina and Virginia at an elevation of 2600 feet and spans an entire mile along the scenic New River. We are on the New River after the North and South Forks converge; where the water is deeper and wider. With more water, more out crops, more breath taking beauty, you get to experience the whole river.​ The second oldest river in the world, the New River winds through the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. With unsurpassed scenic beauty, it is home to diverse wildlife, including species found no where else in the world.

If you are looking for fun in the water, our canoeing, kayaking and tubing trips originate from our campground and provide shuttle service to the put-in point. All of our river trips end at the campground, so there is no long shuttle back to your waiting campsite or vehicle after a fun day on the river. For anglers, the New River provides ample opportunity for fishing, and features muskie and catfish, and is well known for small mouth bass. Many North Carolina and Virginia trophy small mouth bass are recorded yearly. While enjoying fishing on the New River you can also take in the incredible scenery, and you are sure to see plenty of other wildlife. ​​​
