CANOEING THE NEW RIVER
|
The second oldest river in the world, the New River winds through the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. Offering unsurpassed scenic beauty, it is
home to diverse wildlife, including species found no where else in the world. You will also find good fishing
spots and delightful shallow water areas to play in.
We are on the New River after the North and South Forks converge; where
the water is deeper and wider. With more water, more out crops, more
breath taking beauty, you get to experience the whole river.
Whether you are interested in a
leisurely day of paddling, riding some rapids, or an overnight trip on
the river, we can help you plan the perfect outing. We use Old Town
canoes and kayaks exclusively, and our New River Campstore is stocked
with all of the supplies that you could need.
If you would rather have a relaxing
day camping at the river, or need to entertain a large group in a
scenic environment, we can accommodate you. We have a mile of river frontage for
camping, and our large pavilion can accommodate your group for a day of
fun at the river.
Located in
the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and Virginia, in
Alleghany and Grayson counties, New River Campground Canoeing and
Kayaking is the place to go for your vacation on the historic waters of
the New River.

OUR MOST POPULAR RIVER TRIPS |
All of our New River trips originate from New River Campground Canoeing and Kayaking. We provide shuttle service to the put in point. All of our basic packages end at New
River Campground, so there is no long shuttle back to your waiting
campsite or vehicle after a day on the river.
Registration should be completed at least thirty minutes prior to
departure time. During the Fall, on Monday through Thursday, we will
only have one trip, which leaves at 11:00 a.m. and must be made by
reservation prior to the trip. If someone has a special
request for an earlier time or has a special need, please call the
store for more information.
