Canoeing the New River

The Historic New RiverThe second oldest river in the world, the New River winds through the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. Offering unsurpassed scenic beauty, it is home to diverse wildlife, including species found no where else in the world. You will also find good fishing spots and delightful shallow water areas to play in.
We are on the New River after the North and South Forks converge; where the water is deeper and wider. With more water, more out crops, more breath taking beauty, you get to experience the whole river.

Whether you are interested in a leisurely day of paddling, riding some rapids, or an overnight trip on the river, we've got you covered. We can help you plan the perfect outing, whether half a day, or up to a week of canoeing. We use Old Town canoes and kayaks exclusively, and our New River Campstore is stocked with all of the supplies that you could need.
If you would rather have a relaxing day camping at the river, or need to entertain a large group in a scenic environment, we can accomodate you. We have a mile of river frontage for camping, and our large pavillion can accomodate your group for a day of fun at the river.
Located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and Virginia, in Alleghany and Grayson counties, New River Campground Canoeing and Kayaking is the place to go for your vacation on the historic waters of the New River.
