New River Campground Canoeing and Kayaking is located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and Virginia at an elevation of 2600 feet. You can find us on Highway 21 between Sparta, North Carolina, and Independence, Virginia, right at the state line.

Attractions in the Area

View of landscape reflecting in the New River.Only about 15 miles away is the Blue Ridge Parkway, known for its scenic vistas, which features hiking trails, waterfalls and the Blue Ridge Music Center. Also nearby are many parks including, Grayson Highlands State Park, Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, the Jefferson National Forest, and New River Trail State Park, many of which feature trails not only for hiking, but for horseback and bicycle. The Appalachian Trail, the longest foot trail in America, and the Virginia Creeper Trail are also not to far away, and there are several local golf courses in the area.
